I spent an hour and a half swimming. There were gigantic waves, about four or five meters, it was hard to get my head out to breathe". Medi is of Moroccan origin and, when he was only 15 years old, his father threw him out of the house. Medi managed to reach Ceuta but the reality was very different from what he had dreamed of. He was interned in the reception center "La Esperanza", but it was more like a nightmare. "If you wanted to sleep on a mattress, you had to fight with whoever had one and win". Sometimes there was even a shortage of food.
But that's all in the past. Now, he shares life in his emancipation apartment with Bader and a few other guys. He likes his life. He has studied an electromechanical module but now works in a bar. He is eager to learn but, above all, to live.
